I'm a 38-year-old husband and my 41-soon-to-be-42 year-old-wife and I are trying to have our first kid. We met later in life and married a year and a half-ago. The roadblocks you mentioned are tough to negotiate but we are trying. It's been tough. One miscarriage a year ago and we're pretty much ready to accept whatever happens even though we're throwing everything we can at it (fertility treatments), within reason. Most of it is out of our hands at this point. Adoption might be an option but then again, it might not. It's a complicated subject and there are no easy answers.

Just wanted to say thanks for a good article. Even though I'm a guy, I can relate. The article was spot on.
